Luck is a short-lived
marriage of prepared meets
opportunity. |
This writer
would be very surprised to see the US make
any serious effort towards allowing online
gambling any further than already exists. I
very much expect if Antigua and Barbuda
don't accept the proposal and insist on
pushing the gambling card that some lame
offering of an excuse as to why the US is
above the agreement or that they don't have
to honor the agreement because this involves
gambling, will be the end result. It is most
likely since the other afore mentioned
countries have accepted the proposal that
this will be the best offer made to the
remaining countries, and that allowing
online gambling will never be a
consideration. This even though the US
allows internet gambling when it involves
something that suites their interest such as
horses or lotteries.
More hypocritical is that
the senator Goodlatte of Virginia, a leader
in passing laws against allowing online
gambling and telling citizens just one more
thing they can or cannot do ... accepted
$10,000 from ... yep you guessed it. One of
the few entities which can legally have
online gambling, the horses. So while
one hand of our self-appointed conscience of
the country is busy passing laws to take
away more freedoms of the US public, his
other hand is out-stretched for donations
from the people that benefit from his
passing these laws. How proud Mr Goodlatte
must be to know he is capable of making
these decisions for the rest of us, accept
money from those with a conflict of
interest, and still be the fair, honest and
for "all the people" ... that he must see
himself.

Sadly it is
Senator Goodlatte, Senator Kyle and friends
that have put the states in a position to
have to make these trade concessions with
3rd-world countries when they could have in
fact chose to regulate this booming industry
and help solve the huge debt their country
has accumulated over the past half decade.
