Gambling Affiliates
and Challenges They Face
But the smaller and
medium sized casino portals are always at risk of being cheated. I
know this to be true because I've caught many programs trying to
cheat, or as they put it: that have "tracking issues".
While we're not 100%
at the mercy of the casinos, they definitely have the upper hand.
All we as affiliates can do is to rely on the kindness of a few of
our players, that keep us informed as to where they play and how
much, and from that, along with what we call "testers" (people we
give money to gamble in exchange for information): we are able to
somewhat keep the casinos honest.
If one is found to not
be reporting income, the information is shared among all of us
affiliates (or at least enough of us that the casinos would feel the
impact when we all pulled their links), so it somewhat keeps them
honest.
There is a theory
amongst us that I happen to agree with completely, and that is that
the casinos do what we have termed as "selective shaving". This is a
practice where only certain affiliates are shaved, or I should say
for most cases, are not shaved, and I would guess the thinking
behind this is that if there are a few of my peers that say they do
well with a program, that it is enough word of mouth to be
sufficient to serve their purpose. Personally I think it is the
stupidest way to choose to cheat but then the cheaters often prove
to be very lazy, not hardly bothering to even hide the fact they are
cheating us.
