Online Gambling Icon The Professor Retires

The company owning the software for cardspike called Cake Poker has remained silent as has the Professor's business partner in regards to the ownership of this poker program with the exception of having denied the accusations when they first became public. However it was obvious that Effective Media had some sort of ties with the card program but the Professor remained silent towards further accusations and states health reasons for leaving his active duty.

You don't make it to the top without accumulating people who would like to see you fall and that happens faster if you help them. I cannot say whether there is anything really evil about the whole matter but I suspect if the company has more of a connection than just being a consultant then enemies will surely use that to their advantage by saturating the media in the online gambling world with the most effective damage campaign possible.

If you worked in the industry then you likely have crossed paths with the Professor at some point in time. Whether those who know him, like him or not, they all must admit this man who pioneered affiliate gambling in the late 90s has made a huge impact in the industry and his shoes will not likely be filled by any one person.

On a side note: I'm very proud to say that after the Professor that I believe that I have the most "rep power" of any of the other members. It is an honor I hope to keep or at least be in the running every month. Edited to add on 1/15/2010 - Final result for me at this place is a sad one. I resigned membership and asked that my posts be deleted from record, not wanting any further association with a place that had my respect and loyalty and destroyed nearly ten years of trust, friendship and worst of all, many fragile relationships that when used in unison, literally changed the face of online gambling from being a place you'd shun to being a place where if you follow a respected guide's advice, will have an entertaining time with both the chance to win and certainly lots of fun.

At an event sponsored by Effective Media the Professor was involved with some sort of conflict with owners of another forum and some physical violence was barely avoided and for that reason I have decided to distance myself from this organization because I cannot condone nor support anyone who would resort to physical violence as a means for finding a solution to a problem no matter how bad that it might be. I wish the Professor well but after this incident I hope he chooses to stay retired because it has become obvious that he cannot deal with the pressures that come with having competitors that cut corners and that may taunt ... but the only time when physical violence is called for ... is to defend oneself from a physical attack.
