UltimateBet
cheating players? They have been
accused of the following by players :
-
Being aware of the
cheating for nine months
-
Not making any
attempt to thwart the cheating
before it was exposed on 2+2.
-
The cheating was
done by employees of UltimateBet.
-
Aggressively trying
to cover up the matter rather than
confront the problem and do the
right thing.
-
No public statement
made for at least three months after
the crimes were made known.
-
To this date they
still have not contacted those
players who were cheated (some still
don't know about it happening) and
those that do are told when they
contact UltimateBet that the issue
is being looked into, or some other
stall tactic.
-
None of those who
were cheated have been reimbursed in
any way.
-
* I'm not so sure
that last statement remains true as
I have heard some players are
getting some of their money back
When this was first
brought to light it was noted that a
player named NioNio had won enough that
according to statistics the chances of a
player being able to win the amount this
player accumulated in the number of
hands played were literally the same as
what the odds are of winning the
powerball jackpot ... three days in a
row!
But because hole
cards are not shown on any hand but
those that go to a showdown there was no
way for anyone to know for certain past
the obvious ... which is plenty proof
for this writer (there was one
tournament where the cheater only folded
four times) and UltimateBet released
their "official" version as mentioned in
the list, a full three months after the
matter was first made public, in which
they stated that although NioNio's
statistics were abnormal that there was nothing to prove
any wrong doing had happened.
But the numbers said
otherwise. Stats on MyPokerIntel.com
(tracks high roller poker) showed that
NioNio had beaten the games at a rate of
114 big blinds per 100 hands (114bb/100)
over the 8,000 hands that he had played
(accumulating over $600k in 64 hours,
not bad for an otherwise unknown). To
give you an idea what we're talking
here, the world's best players strive to
win 15 bb/100.
Even more incriminating was the last
date NioNio played (under that name) was
September 4th, the same week the
cheating at Absolute Poker came to
light. Not too mention that it is
unbelievable that NioNio, the most
successful poker player in the history
of the world (aside from perhaps the
cheats at AP), would walk away from a
situation where he was making half a
million dollars in less than every three
days.
Without going into it
much further, once this info was made
public the rest of the poker players
began using their hand histories to
piece together an ugly scenario where in
the end it was discovered that
Ultimatebet, just like its sister-site
Absolute Poker, had tried to cover up
the cheating and even went as far as
deleting some information which it
blatantly looked the world in the eyes
and claimed this was an accident. This
coming from the same company that not
once, but twice was going to cover up
the truth and only came forward after
its situation forced an action
It is simply
unfathomable that red flag was not
raised when NioNio, the most successful
Poker player in the history of the
world, a guy for whom logging onto
UltimateBet was like going to an ATM
machine... and stealing the whole thing,
abruptly decided a couple days after the
Absolute Poker scandal became public
that he wanted to close his account. The
only rational conclusion is that
UltimateBet had full knowledge of the
cheating as it was taking place and
deliberately allowed it to continue just
like at their sister site Absolute Poker
where the founder of the company was
cheating and orchestrating cover-up.

Commission.
